Using RSS to View News Articles

RSS feeds use a technology called XML to deliver headlines and summaries to a desktop or Web browser.  This allows users to automate how information is obtained from their favorite websites, which often is much quicker than manually accessing each individual site.

Enabling RSS

  1. Select the Web Pages tab from the CMS administrative panel.
  2. Locate the page configured for the News and click Edit
  3. Click on the news section processor and choose Edit.
  4. In the RSS Stream Title field, fill out the text box with the desired title to be displayed at the top of the page opened by pressing the RSS button.
    Note: The button will be available in your Headlines Box following the completion of these steps. 
  5. In the RSS Stream Description field, fill out the text box with the desired description to be displayed below the feed address of the page opened by pressing the RSS button. 
  6. Click on Save.
  7. Publish the page.

Disabling RSS

  1. Select the Web Pages tab from the CMS administrative panel.
  2. Locate the page configured for the News and click Edit
  3. Click on the news section processor and choose Edit.
  4. Scroll down until you come to RSS Enabled.  Select No.    
  5. Click Save.
  6. Publish the page.

Subscribing to RSS Feeds

  1. Once RSS has been enabled, an orange button appears in the News box.
  2. Click on the RSS button.
  3. A window opens revealing several optiona for where the feed can be managed and viewed. This window also displays the URL which may be needed depending on the RSS reader you choose to use.
  4. Click the preferred RSS Reader.
  5. Follow the steps provided by the selected feed reader.
